But the 5-1 loss for Minnesota has an added sting—the Twins have now lost a remarkable 16 straight playoff games, which is a Major League Baseball record, notes ESPN.

The unwanted streak stretches back to 2004, and it features a familiar nemesis: The Yankees have accounted for 13 of those losses. At the local Pioneer Press, John Shipley sums things up nicely in his first sentence: "Target Field is such a nice ballpark; it’s a shame not to use it more in October."
