25 Percent of Americans Won't Ever Go Back to the Gym, Survey Reveals OnePoll surveyed over 2,000 people for the results. Nearly a quarter of Americans said they will avoid gyms post-coronavirus, even if extra precautions are taken. One in three participants said they will go to the gym fewer times then before the pandemic. Sports medicine specialist Caitlin Lewis, via 'Best Life' Sports medicine specialist Caitlin Lewis, via 'Best Life' The survey adds that home workouts have risen in popularity, with 42 percent feeling more comfortable in a personal setup. For those heading back to the gym, face masks and sanitized equipment are important factors. 83 percent said they would feel more secure if everyone at the gym had face coverings. Sixty-two percent believe that wearing masks at gyms helps to contain the spread of COVID-19. There were some anti-mask findings, with 26 percent saying they would avoid a gym that required one. 90 percent said they will make sure others are properly cleaning the equipment. Almost half claimed they would even call a person out for not cleaning effectively.
